You find here some note about the assembly of your 8 mm Pitot-Static. If any doubt arises consider entering in contact other BAD users.
Possible configurations are multiple but the Pitot-Static probe is the same. Prior to the assembly, you should have prepared the single components and read your selected variant page. Regarding the flanges there are some tested alternatives, you can view the models online here. Most common flange model is that one.
Common files are available to download from our GitHub repo.
Unflanged Pitot, it is the basic configuration
- Let by the Pitot desired length L=220 mm
- Check the length of your 8 mm carbon pipe, should be 220 mm
- Check the length of total pressure 3 mm pipe, should be 285=(L+65)mm
- Check the length of static pressure 3 mm pipe, should be 170 mm. If you want you can change this pipe with a 2 mm pipe. The latter will be easier to introduce inside the 8 mm carbon fiber pipe
- Glue with bicomponent epoxy glue. RC Hobby grade resin is fine. You need to follow the drawing indications, in the drawing (L=500). You can also follow the initial part of this video
- Prior to sealing the back end of the 8 mm pipe, it is possible to introduce some pressed paper, that will help to not flood the internal of the 8 mm pipe.
- Drill the static annular pressure port on the 8 mm carbon fiber pipe. It is composed of eight holes of 0.8/1 mm diameter at 36 mm from the probe tip.
Flanged Pitot, same instructions are valid for all the flanged variants.
- Let by the Pitot desired length is L=220 mm.
- Check the length of 8 mm carbon pipe, should be 193=(L-27)mm
- Check the length of internal 3 mm pipe, should be 208=(L-12)mm
- Glue the head with bicomponent epoxy glue. RC Hobby grade resin is fine. You need to follow these video indications.
- Drill the static annular pressure port on the 8 mm carbon fiber pipe. It is composed of eight holes of 0.8/1 mm diameter at 36 mm from the probe tip.
- Finish gluing the Pitot to the flange with bicomponent epoxy glue. You need to follow these video indications.
- Drill the static and total pressure nipple on the fixation flange. To do so you need a 1 mm drill bit and it is advisable to use a press drill. In detail. Drill the total pressure hole, the farthest from the pitot head, with a deep of 13mm the other hole should be drilled to 10.5mm deep.
